Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel - Roger Emerson

Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel, is a traditional African American spiritual. Roger Emerson’s arrangement features a subdued opening, followed by a high powered, energy filled driving rock section immediately following. Based heavily in jazz harmony, the piece features back and forth harmonic segments between the piano and the voices, ultimately ending with terraced entrances in the voices, creating dissonance before finally resolving for one last show-stopping punch.
