Agnus Dei - Thomas Morley

Agnus Dei is a traditional part of the ordinary of the mass. The text has been around since the late 600s and has been set to music by most major composers for the past 1400 years. This arrangement was written by Thomas Morley, an early renaissance composer. You will hear four part harmony between the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass with each voice getting their own independent melodies throughout the piece. Morley has intricately weaved the voices in such a way, that there is no real rest until the end of the piece, creating a constant sense of movement until the ending finally begins to slow, and ultimately resolve
